Rowan or Mountain Ash

Rowan blossomOne of the first trees we planted when we moved into our home was a Rowan. This is another tree that is very attractive to insects and birds as well as to us!

On a visit to Scotland we bought some venison and asked what would be a good accompaniment to go with it – we were recommended a Rowan jelly and it was absolutely superb! That autumn I picked some of the berries and my better half made some Rowan jelly, it is now down as one of our regular harvests.
